Work Experience
Work Experience (4 Days in July) Year 10
All year 10 pupils take part in a 4-day Work Experience placement in July as part of our Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) programme. This provides pupils with the opportunity to develop key employability skills, explore career interests and gain first-hand experience of the workplace.
Placements are organised and monitored through Unifrog, which supports pupils to find placements, complete preparation tasks and record their learning. Pupils are supported in school to prepare for work experience, including expectations of behaviour, communication and workplace safety.
Safeguarding
All placements must be approved by the school through Unifrog to ensure appropriate safeguarding checks are completed. Pupils must not arrange placements independently without informing the school.
Paid Work
Work experience is an educational placement and pupils are not permitted to undertake paid employment during this week, including working additional hours in an existing job, as this would not be covered by the school’s work experience arrangements.
If a pupil does not secure a placement
If a pupil is unable to secure a placement, the school will provide an alternative programme in school, which may include employability workshops, careers activities and supported employer encounters to ensure all pupils benefit from meaningful careers learning.
Following the placement, pupils complete reflection activities to evaluate what they have learned and how it links to future education, training and career pathways.
