Dartmouth Academy Year 5 Primary Maths Challenge 2024

Forty-eight primary school children from Dartmouth, Blackawton and Stoke Fleming took part in a Primary Maths Challenge at Dartmouth Academy.  The event involved 12 teams of four: each team was named after famous mathematician taking part in mathematical challenges covering arithmetic, number investigations and mathematical quizzes.

Mrs Westlake, Head of Maths at Dartmouth Academy commented: “The event was a great success and was about showing that everyone can take part and that Maths is fun! The pupils were really enthusiastic and had a lovely time competing in such a fun and positive way.”

All pupils received a Primary Challenge certificate and the winning and runners-up teams were presented with trophies by Dartmouth Academy Principal Paul Girardot. Congratulations to the winning team ‘Isaac Newton’ from Stoke Fleming Primary, and runners-up ‘Emmy Noether’ team from Blackawton Primary.
