Mrs Jen Tierney works in Reception/ Year 1 on Mondays.

Our Reception and Year 1 class provides a nurturing and stimulating environment where children are supported to make a confident start to their school journey. We understand that children develop at different rates and our teaching and provision are carefully planned to meet the needs of all learners, ensuring every child feels supported, challenged and valued.

We are fortunate to be part of a wider Early Years Foundation Stage unit, which allows all pupils to access a rich range of learning experiences and high-quality provision. Activities are thoughtfully designed to match each child’s stage of development, helping them to build strong foundations in communication, early reading, number, independence and social skills.

Learning is purposeful, engaging and play-based, with skilled adults guiding and supporting children to explore, practise and deepen their understanding. By working flexibly across the EYFS unit, we ensure that children in Reception and Year 1 benefit from provision that meets them where they are, while preparing them confidently for the next steps in their learning.
