Congratulations to Dartmouth Academy GCSE Pupils – Class of 202112th August 2021
Dartmouth Academy is proud to congratulate the Year 11 pupils of 2021 in their GCSE outcomes this summer.
Since the announcement in January that examinations would not go ahead as normal and the subsequent changes to how GCSEs would be awarded this year, pupils have worked with staff at the Academy towards these achievements which they deserve to celebrate fully.
Pupils will be progressing to a variety of post-16 courses and placements, including South Devon and Exeter Colleges, the sixth form centres at Kingsbridge Community College, Torquay Grammar School and Churston Ferrers Grammar School, and the specialist courses at Bicton College and Duchy College.
Notably high attainment and progress for GCSEs is recognised for the following pupils: Louella Hughes, Abbey Oliphant, Amilee James, Eben Ahearn, Oliver Thorpe, Chloe Hobson, Rio Conroy, Daisy Ferris, Beau Bakewell, Brooke Holmes, Archie French and Rebecca Collins.
Emily Simpson-Horne, Headteacher, said: “This cohort has followed in the footsteps of their predecessors from 2020 in rising to the challenge of GCSEs in this period of COVID-19 uncertainty.
The results that pupils have achieved are testament to their perseverance, diligence in their studies and resilience in the face of challenge. This is an inspirational group of young people and it is a privilege to know them and to have worked with them. They have modelled what being a ‘scholar’ looks like.
I am grateful also to the team of staff at the Academy. Their dedication to supporting pupils and to implementing the guidance for the awarding of GCSEs in 2021 with rigour and integrity reflects their commitment to every pupil at our school.
On behalf of all the staff who have worked with these young people, we wish them the very best as they move on to their post-16 courses.”
