- Students will study EITHER English GCSE OR GCSE in English Language and English Literature.
- English: Three units: non-fiction reading and writing (exam); Shakespeare, other literature and creative writing (controlled assessment); speaking and listening (controlled assessment).
- English Language: Three units: non-fiction reading and writing (exam); reading and creative writing (controlled assessment); speaking and listening and spoken language study (controlled assessment).
- English Literature: Three units: poetry (exam); fiction and a play (exam); Shake- speare and other literature (controlled assessment).
- The course is modular and the different units will be studied and assessed throughout the two-year course. Exams will not necessarily be at the end of the course; they may be taken earlier.
